Backtrack 4 is an easy-to-use file-and-e-mail-encryption application based on the AES standard. Encrypt your confidential e-mail attachments to protect them from prying eyes as they travel across the Internet. Features include a self-decrypting option so recipients do not have to have a copy of Backtrack 4 to decrypt attachments. Use the secure KeyStore to hold your frequently used encryption keys. Version 5.5 improved Vista support. This bare-bones application effectively encrypts and decrypts Backtrack 4, though it offers only a single encryption method. TurboEncoder's plainly designed interface makes it easy to Backtrack 4 your hard Backtrack 4 to encrypt. It also features a large window that displays short program-usage tips. It integrates itself with the Windows shell to encrypt Backtrack 4 from a right-click menu. Unfortunately, the program can't encrypt whole folders, nor can it replace the title of the encrypted file. It also is unclear to us what method of encryption Backtrack 4 uses. The option to compress the encrypted file works well for larger Backtrack 4, but makes little size difference for smaller Backtrack 4. The program's file-deletion method and encryption algorithm are not described in the help file. Without assurance both are secure, users shouldn't use this utility to encrypt highly sensitive materials. Sending an encrypted file is a problem since the receiver must Backtrack 4 the file using Backtrack 4. All told, this freeware will suit users who need a Backtrack 4 file encryptor/decryptor without the usual encryption-utility features.
